Lab-tested “testosterone boosters” in the UK & EU: what the reports show

Short answer:
  • No supplement is authorised in the UK or EU to say it boosts testosterone.
  • The only authorised claim is “Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood”.
  • So we looked for what sits behind products sold under that search term: published, independent heavy-metal reports.
  • Seven products we checked are lab verified with numeric lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic results for a named batch, all within EU limits: five zinc supplements (VitaMoment Zink-Histidin, MoleQlar Zink, edubily Zink-Komplex, Vitabay Zink 25 mg, Nature Heart Ionic Zink drops), Sunday Natural Zinc 25 mg + vitamin C and Sunday Natural Organic Black Maca extract.
  • Lowest metals: Sunday Natural Zinc (all four below the reporting limit, GBA, May 2026), also the only lab-verified zinc with a UK seller (£9.
  • 90 for 120 capsules, about £0.
  • 08 a day, checked 26 Oct 2026).
  • One warning: MoleQlar’s latest batch measured 14 mg zinc against 20 mg on the label.
  • Eight more products, including every multi-herb “men’s” blend we found, have only partial reports.
  • We do not list tongkat ali (an unauthorised novel food in the EU), turkesterone, DHEA, prohormones or SARMs.

About Men's Health

What it is
Supplements marketed for men’s health: mainly zinc (alone or with copper, vitamin C or histidine), plus herbs such as maca and fenugreek and multi-ingredient “men’s” blends. Often searched for as “testosterone boosters”.
Common forms
Capsules, tablets or liquid drops. Zinc forms in our list: bisglycinate, picolinate, citrate, gluconate and sulfate.
Typical label doses
Zinc products in our directory give 10–25 mg zinc a day. Maca products give 450–900 mg extract or 3,000 mg powder a day; the fenugreek product 2,600 mg seed powder.
Note
25 mg zinc a day is EFSA’s adult upper level from all sources and the UK Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals’ safe upper level from supplements; long-term high zinc can cause copper deficiency. Ashwagandha, often found in men’s blends, is not allowed in foods in Denmark, and Germany’s BfR and France’s ANSES advise some groups not to take it (see the safety note on this page). Tongkat ali is an unauthorised novel food in the EU and we do not list it.

Authorised health claims (EU and GB registers)

FAQ

Do testosterone boosters work?

Mostly not in men with normal levels. Zinc helps restore testosterone in men who are zinc-deficient, but trials of ZMA in men with normal zinc found no change; tribulus has not raised testosterone in human trials; maca did not change hormones in a 12-week trial; fenugreek and ashwagandha have small, mixed trial results. A 2020 study of 50 “T booster” products found only about a quarter of their claims had any supporting data. See our guide for the studies.

Which “testosterone booster” has the cleanest lab report?

In our list, Sunday Natural Zinc 25 mg + vitamin C: lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic were all below the reporting limit (GBA report 26020434-006, batch L02609, 5 May 2026). It is a plain zinc supplement, not a herbal blend.

Are herbal men’s blends lab tested?

Some publish certificates, but none we found has a full numeric heavy-metal report for a sample that matches the product name. Nature Love Energiefluss für Männer and Nature Heart Männer Formel X12 Pro have pass/fail or limit-level results, and Sunday Natural Libo M has numeric results for a sample with a different name. We list all three as “Partial report”.

Is tongkat ali legal in the UK and EU?

In the EU it is an unauthorised novel food: EFSA could not establish its safety in 2021 because of genotoxicity concerns, and Dutch and Norwegian authorities have acted against products. It is not on GB’s authorised novel food list either. We do not list it.

Can I buy these in the UK?

Of the lab-verified products, only the two Sunday Natural products (zinc and black maca) have a UK seller in our data (sunday-natural.co.uk, £ prices). The others are sold by German shops in €; we have not checked whether they deliver to the UK.
